Nature’s Top 10 Paleo Diet Super Foods

There are foods that should always be part of your diet. These are the ones that could be considered as nature’s best because they are packed with healthy nutrients, rich antioxidant properties, and brain-boosting Omega-3 fats.

While the Paleo diet already consists of these so-called “super foods,” incorporating these foods into your present diet is a must because these provide our bodies with the most beneficial and healthiest nutrients.

Here is a list of the most important foods in the Paleo diet.

 Dark Chocolate

With its high content of antioxidants and flavanoids, cocoa helps improve cardiovascular health and wards off high blood pressure. Flavanoids are known for being anti-inflammatory.

Word of caution: do not over indulge. You only need to consume several squares of 80 percent pure dark chocolate each day for the optimum benefits.

Kiwi

When we think of vitamin C, we automatically think that orange is on the top of the list. The thing is, it is not orange which provides us with the highest amounts of vitamin C– it’s the kiwi fruit. Add to the fact that it also has high fiber content and a rich source of vitamin E, what more could you ask for?

 Cherries

With its potent anti-inflammatory properties, these super fruit is a key supplement for those battling gout and arthritis.

 Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is noted for its high lauric acid content and healthy medium chain triglycerides  or MCTs. The latter is highly potent anti-microbial and anti-viral type of fat that boosts which our immune system. Lauric acid, on the other hand, boosts babies’ immune system.

 Seaweed

As most Americans are deficient in iodine intake, it’s time that they should add seaweed in their diets. Not only does iodine help us ward off goiter and hypothyroidism, it might also be important in fighting cancer. You can get your seaweed from your supermarket or from your favorite Japanese restaurant that serves sushi.

Blueberries

When it comes to anti-oxidant properties, blueberries are on the top of the list. In fact the ORAC scale classifies blueberries as one of the best sources of anti-oxidants. The fruit is said to be a treatment for brain disorders, including Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Free Range Eggs

Chickens raised the natural way –free range and fed with worms an insects, grubs and other natural foods – provide us with nutritionally superior eggs. These eggs are packed with vitamin D, amino acids, and Omega-3 fats.

Kale

Kale contains a potent mix of vitamins C, K, and A, plus a phytonutrient called sulforaphane, which is known for its cancer fighting properties.

Grass Fed Beef

For sure, red meat has gotten a lot of bad press in recent years. However, you should know that it is not red meat per se that causes harm to our bodies. Rather it is the fact that we are consuming cattle which are corn-fed, rather than the traditionally grass-fed variety. This practice of feeding cattle with corn has significantly reduced the Omega-3 fat content of beef. This is not the case with grass fed cattle though, which still retains high content of protein, Omega-3, amino acids, and creatine.

 Wild Caught Salmon

This is probably the best source of Omega-3 fats, something which can be attributed to its natural food sources which include krill and plankton, also noted for their high Omega content.

Ideally you should have at least 2-3 servings of this super food each week.
